Description
Russian violinist Sergei Dogadin has been awarded with multiple prizes and was invited to perform under the baton of conductors such as Vasily Petrenko, Valery Gergiev and Vladimir Ashkenazy. As the soloist in Camille Saint-Saëns's “Introduction and Rondo Capriccioso” as well as Maurice Ravel's “Tzigane” he showcases his breath-taking technique and virtuosic style. He is also the soloist in Alexey Shor's “Four Seasons of Manhattan”. In his Concerto for Violin and Orchestra, the contemporary composer does not explicitly cite American music. Instead, he draws a very personal picture of the change of seasons in New York City. Sergey Smbatyan, a renowned expert in Russian repertoire, opens a dialogue between these concertos and the sumptuous harmonies, endless melodic lines and glowing colours of Sergey Rachmaninoff's Symphony No. 2.
The InClassica Malta International Music Festival is organised by the European Foundation for Support of Culture (EUFSC), led by Konstantin Ishkhanov, in collaboration with the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra (MPO).
