Description
Rockestra is back for the 12th Edition at MFCC Ta Qali.
Throughout the past year, the MCCFF received numerous enquires to see whether
the show would be happening as it had been sorely missed. Over the years,
Rockestra has attracted 10's of thousands of people and has gathered a
loyal following towards this annual show.
This year, Rockestra will be happening in a different format from previous years, primarily
as it will be a sit-down rock concert and will feature rock songs which, in the
past, weren't a good fit for a stand-up rock concert. The wide range of
rock bands the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra will cover vary from Scorpions,
Pink Floyd, Toto, Bastille and Foo Fighters, just to name a few.
Once again, an exciting mix of local artists will join the Rockestra stage this
year, most of which surely need no introduction. These include Frank,
Ozzy Lino, Klinsmann, Matthew James, Lara, Petra and the New Victorians,
amongst many others.
The show will be artistically directed by Pawlu Borg Bonaci, and Sigmund Mifsud as a musical director and conductor for the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra.
This rock concert has proven time and time again that it is an event not to be
missed, bringing together much-loved rock songs, blending classical rock to
more alternative rock tunes, performed by well renowned local artists! Pawlu
Borg Bonaci promised that although a sit-down concert, this year's edition of
Rockestra will be one to remember for many years to come!
President George Vella expressed the hope that the Maltese people continue to
support this musical event, especially in times where the Malta Community Chest
Fund Foundation is in dire need of support, with most events being restricted
or cancelled throughout the past 19 months.
